- Must be nominated by a current Academy member
- Must be full-time tenured or tenure-acquiring faculty who has been at Texas Tech for a minimum of three years
Application Procedure
- Applicants must have letters of recommendation from the nominator and one other current member of the Teaching Academy (Note: Current Teaching Academy members may support one candidate per year, and letters of recommendation must provide two examples of the candidate's teaching excellence and/or efforts to promote the improvement of teaching.).
- Complete the application form. Online website will open approximately August 1, 2008.
You may review the application questions ahead of time and have them prepared in Microsoft Word or similar word processing editor first. This will enable you to copy and paste your information into the respective form fields for each question. Please be aware that the text fields used will only support plain text with no special formatting or style (bullets, fonts, and so on). Save your Word file as a .txt file with the "line breaks" option.
- Nominations are solicited only from Teaching Academy members, not academic units. Colleges and departments should not prescreen nominations.
- Selection will be by a screening committee elected from the full membership of the Teaching Academy. Selection will be based solely on the merit of the applicant, not on the number of potential memberships available.
Selection Committee
- All members of the selection committee will review all applications prior to the committee meeting.
- The committee will consider the supplied information with special attention paid to evidence of sustained teaching excellence at Texas Tech University. All applicants will be judged by the same criteria.
- Each year the selection committee will review the process and make recommendations for refining the process.
